NATIONAL AMBER ALERT DAY

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

Today across America communities are observing National Amber Alert Awareness Day.  In honor of this amazing program, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children encourages everyone to sign up for Wireless Amber Alerts.  Wireless Amber Alerts are free, you just click the link, enter your phone number, and you are registered if there is a missing child in your area. amberAlertLogo2This successful program was formed after the 1996 abduction and murder of 9-year-old Amber Hagerman, and targets the most serious child-abduction cases by flashing urgent bulletins across our country.  According to the NCMEC, all 50 states including the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands are all participants.

One of the oldest, most active Amber Alerts to date is the Trenton Duckett case out of Florida.  Trenton went missing on August 27, 2006, when he was last seen with his mother.  Since then, Trenton’s mother, Melinda committed suicide.  If you have any information, please contact the Leesburg Police at:  (352) 787-2121
