UPDATE:  Reports out of London indicate WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange was arrested earlier this morning.  Assange turned himself into a London Police station after a European arrest warrant was issued and he will appear in court later today.

BACKGROUND: WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is now a wanted suspect, but not for leaking secret United States military documents. Instead, Assange is wanted for alleged sex crimes in Sweden. Interpol issued an official red notice and added Assange to their current “most wanted” list. The charges are for sexual molestation, rape and illegal force stemming from two alleged incidents in August. The Red Notice is not an arrest warrant, but an official advisory request sent to 188 countries.

The WikiLeaks website has published hundreds of thousands of U.S. secret diplomatic cables from around the world. The release gives the public an in-depth view of the government’s foreign activities, private notes and conversations. The White House said the leaks could put troops’ lives in danger. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has said this disclosure not only puts people’s lives in danger, but is a threat to our national security.

NAVY SAILOR STILL ON THE RUN FOR PREGNANT WIFE’S MURDER

Eric Gilford (police photo)

There’s an international manhunt to find an active-duty navy sailor who police say brutally murdered his pregnant wife. An arrest warrant has been issued for Eric A. Gilford, 31, for stabbing his wife and his unborn child to death. A bond was set at $3,000,000. I spoke with Investigator Todd Kubish from the Villa Park Police department, and he confirms the United States Marshal Service, Border Patrol and an entity of Homeland Security are all involved in tracking this dangerous suspect.

Kubish says on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, Gilford tracked down his wife at another man’s home in Villa Park. She was inside the apartment with her 4-year-old daughter, Gracie May. The man was not home at the time. An argument ensued, and Kubish says Gilford allegedly stabbed his wife repeatedly and fled the scene. The child ran upstairs to get help for her mother, but by the time police arrived, Gilford was gone.
Kubish told me Kristine Gilford was 5-months pregnant and alive when help arrived on the scene, but later died in surgery while at the hospital. Thankfully, her daughter was not harmed, though she had to watch her mother die on her 4th birthday. Apparently Gilford and Kristine were married only a few months ago, and there have been domestic issues in the past when police had to respond to their home.

It’s been 72 hours since 16-year-old Mizarai Zumaia was last seen, and police say she may be held against her will by a suspected murderer.  Sgt. Joseph Favazzo with the Chandler Police Department says the last time anyone spoke to Mizarai was around midnight on Sunday morning.  Her family last heard from her through text messages, and Sgt. Favazzo says, “The family feels like in the text messages she was reluctant.”

Sgt. Favazzo says Mizarai was introduced to Pedro Gaeta, 19, through a family introduction.  “She had a crush on this guy, and he shows up. They had been text messaging and had a facebook relationship for a short period of time,” says Favazzo.  Gaeta is wanted for murder out of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Mizarai is in danger.  Gaeta is charged with first degree murder, and is possibly connected to the killing of a woman on November 21, 2009.

Mizarai’s phone isn’t turned on and Favazzo says, “What we desperately need is a vehicle description.”  At this point no one knows what kind of car they are traveling in, and they could possibly be heading for Mexico, Texas or Oklahoma.

Anyone with information regarding the duo’s whereabouts is asked to call 480-782-4130

Aveion Lewis mother, Morgan Lockett and her husband, Brandon, were indicted this week and charged with second degree murder and child neglect and cruelty.  Police say a hoax abduction report was filed by Brandon Lockett, Aveion’s step-father on January 15, 2010 claiming the toddler was abducted by masked men who broke into his home.  Sadly, the 2-year-old was found dead in a nearby landfill 12 days later. Police said they tracked the trash collected along the 2100 block of King Charles Avenue, and that is what led them to the discovery of the body. Thankfully, the trash company keeps very good records, and police were able to locate the truck in route to the landfill before it made a deposit.  The truck emptied its contents in an isolated area at the landfill, and investigators sifted through the garbage.

Early on, investigators charged Brandon Lockett with improper disposal of a human body, obstruction of justice, and felony child neglect after the false report was filed.  Police canceled an Amber Alert for the child after Lockett admitted Aveion was dead before the bogus abduction took place. Although conflicting statements were given to authorities early on, they were still able to come to this conclusion in a timely manner.

Jean Paul Missing

Jean Paul Missing

Investigators say Jean Paul Lacombe was abducted by his non-custodial father, Jean Philippe Lacombe, on October 15, 2009 in San Antonio, Texas.  Lacombe allegedly gave the court invalid Mexican Documents to overturn the case, and the judge gave him custody.  Lacombe was supposed to show back up for a court hearing on Monday, October 19, 2009, but instead he fled with his son.

HISTORY OF CUSTODY

Cliff Herberg with the Bexar District Attorney’s office in Texas says there are 1,400 pages pertaining to this case that have accumulated over the years in Mexican court.  He has not had a chance to review every single page, but Mr. Herberg was able to provide a timeline and background of custody between the parents.

 2003:  Divorce proceedings began

2004:  Divorce is finalized, and both parties agree Jean Paul will live with his father, and his mother will have “extended access” meaning she would still see her son on a daily basis by picking him up from school, taking him home, eating dinner with him.
