Police Sketch

Just before the New Year, on Dec. 30, police say Kejuan Charde Hall was attacked and stabbed on the job.  Kejuan had just turned 25 on Christmas Eve and was eight weeks pregnant when she died.  Friends say she was looking forward to New Year’s Eve to share her pregnancy news with her family.

Investigators say Kejuan was working at the Golden Pantry Shell station in Athens, Ga. when an unknown man wearing a dark knit cap came into her store, attacked and killed her.

At this point, the motive does not appear to be robbery because authorities say the only thing taken was the surveillance tape.  When the suspect is identified, found and arrested, he will be charged with a double homicide.

Kejuan leaves behind an 8-year-old daughter.

Athens-Clarke County police need your leads.   The suspect is described as a black male, 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds.  He may be in his late 20s or early 30s.  If you have any information, please call Crime stoppers:  (706) 613-3342

CAB DRIVER STABBED, DRAGGED, CARJACKED – LEFT FOR DEAD

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

taxi

A taxi driver and father of five was murdered in Los Angeles over the weekend, and his ruthless killer is still on the loose.

Authorities say Erasmo Amaral, 56, was carjacked and stabbed around 1:45 a.m. near Imperial Highway and Atlantic Avenue, but the stabbing didn’t stop him from hanging onto his cab for dear life and trying to stop the carjacker.  Investigators say the suspect was trying to throw Erasmo off the side of the cab by sideswiping other vehicles for more than a mile.  Sadly, the victim was found lying on the road and was pronounced dead on location.  Authorities believe the motive was robbery and the suspect was last seen fleeing from the scene on foot.  As of right now there is not a good suspect description, but police are still asking for tips on this case.

I came across an older OSHA report last night that said taxicab drivers are 60 times more likely than other workers to be murdered on the job.

Let’s bring justice for Erasmo and his family.  If you know anything, please contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500

Remembering Dashawn Longfellow (personal photo)

A British kick boxer is wanted for killing a former United States Marine.  Investigators say Lee Aldhouse, 28, fatally stabbed American tourist DeShawn Longfellow, 23, on Saturday in Thailand.

Reportedly, it all started after a fight broke out at the Freedom Bar on the island of Phuket in Bangkok.  This is a bar Aldhouse is known to visit frequently, and an establishment where DeShawn’s girlfriend is a bartender.  Patrons broke up the fight and DeShawn and his girlfriend left to go back to their hotel.

I spoke to DeShawn’s first cousin Sabre Anderson today.  She said the embassy told her family he left the hotel at some point to go to a convenience store where he was reportedly spotted by Aldhouse.  The suspect allegedly stole two knives from a 7-11 in the area and followed Deshawnback to his room and attacked him from behind.  A fight broke out in the hallway before DeShawn was stabbed in the chest. DeShawn’s girlfriend called police and an ambulance, but it was too late.  He was pronounced dead at the scene and the murder weapons were found nearby.

ALLEGED SERIAL STABBER ARRESTED IN ATLANTA, WILL NOT FIGHT EXTRADITION

Elias Abuelazam (suspect photo)
Elias Abuelazam (suspect photo)

The man suspected of stabbing 18 victims and trying to flee from the country was taken down Wednesday night at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.  Elias Abuelazam, 33, was booked on a Delta flight for Israel when a tip developed into a strong lead that put investigators hot on his trail.  As he was waiting to get on his plane, Abuelazam was taken down around 10 p.m.  I spoke with Lt. Gene Kapp of the Michigan State Police and he said since Monday they’ve received 600 tips in this case, one of which turned out to be an excellent lead.  Abuelazam had his first hearing today and will not fight extradition to Michigan to face one inital charge of assault with intent to murder for a July 27, 2010 incident.

Lt. Kapp realizes that if the tip had come in just a few hours later, the alleged suspect may have been on the flight across the world. “Everyone was working hard to place him there, and the fact that we had the contacts and the communications with the federal agencies to move that quick to make the apprehension for us,” added Kapp.

COPS: 9-month-old covered in stab wounds, mom murdered

Remembering Jacqueline Reyes

Remembering Jacqueline Reyes

Just when I say I covered one of the worst crimes I’ve seen in a while… here’s another one that took my breath away.  It all played out in Newark, New Jersey when investigators say Ivan Reyes came home for lunch and found his 27-year-old wife dead, and his 9-month-old son covered in stab wounds.  First Responders did their best to save this baby… and it’s something they can’t get out of their mind. Officials say four firefighters, who responded to the scene, had to be relieved of their duties later because of the emotional trauma they are suffering from this incident.  The infant went into surgery for his injuries, and is listed in critical condition – we hope and pray he will survive.  Authorities are reviewing surveillance tapes from the area, searching for clues in this case; they say they do not have a description of the suspect.

If you have ANY information on this case, please contact police , or the Hudson County Prosecutor’s office homicide squad at (201) 915-1345 right away to help bring justice to this family.  I will have more on this story tomorrow as calls are returned from fire officials and investigators…
