The serial killer investigation on Long Island continues into 2012 as Suffolk investigators continue to release new nuggets of information. Authorities this week released a sketch of a third unidentified victim in the investigation. A woman was found along Ocean Parkway in April 2011. Body parts found there were positively connected to other body parts found in 1996 on Fire Island.
Authorities say 10 victims were killed over the last 15 years and the former police commissioner believes that it is the work of one person.

San Francisco Police are looking to identify a suspect they say sexually assaulted and tried to murder a victim. On November 18, between 3 a.m. – 4:30 a.m. authorities believe the man followed the victim to an area near 24th and South Van Ness. The man allegedly tried to get the victim to give him money, then he took her to a location to strangle, punch, slap and sexually assault.
The suspect, who is described as a black male, was last seen running on foot. He is between 5’11” – 6’1”, 150-160 pounds and is 30-50 years old. Morgan Harrington was last seen at a concert outside the John Paul Jones arena in Charlottesville, VA. It was October 17, 2009. Police say Morgan separated from friends around 8:30 p.m. when she walked out of the front entrance of a Metallic concert. Morgan never returned, and it was the last time she was seen alive. Investigators say Morgan called her friends inside and told them she was finding a ride home.
State police officials report Morgan was last seen by the ticket office on the University Hall side of the building and witnesses report seeing her hitchhiking close to the arena exit road. An intense search of the area yielded no new clues until three months later.
In January 2010, Morgan’s body was found on a farm in Albemarle County, Virginia. Investigators said her decomposed body could have been on the land as many as 100 days.
It’s been almost a week since Broward County Sheriff’s say an unknown man forced his way into an elderly woman’s home, beat her and stole her valuables. The 88-year-old victim told investigators she heard a knock at her Pompano Beach door around 10 p.m. on March 29 and she answered the a man in his 20s plowed through the entrance. The suspect allegedly ransacked her home and threatened to kill her.
Authorities say the man punched the elderly woman in the face, before taking her into the bedroom and demanded money. When he realized all she had was a few dollars in cash, investigators say he sifted through her jewelry box, and took her valuables.

Investigators in Arizona are looking into a copycat acid attack on a woman in an apartment complex. Authorities say Derri Velarde, 41-year-old mother of five, was getting out of her car in her apartment complex on September 4 when she was attacked with acid. Investigators say the suspect did not say a word and tossed the contents of her cup on the victim, which immediately started to burn her face.
Although investigators in Washington believe Bethany Storro’s attack was random, investigators in Arizona believe this was deliberate. Mesa Police have released a sketch of a Hispanic woman, between 30 – 40 years old, around 5’6” and 140 pounds. She was described as having a ponytail and wide hips, and was wearing a black tank top and black sweat pants with a white stripe.
The victim immediately jumped in her shower and attempted to rinse off the acid, which may have helped her second degree burns. She is still recovering in the hospital.

Update:An arrest was made over night for a man believed to be responsible for stabbing 20 victims from Michigan to Virginia. The suspect is currently being held in Atlanta on unrelated charges as investigators begin to put the case against him together… Stay tuned for more.
A nationwide manhunt is underway for a suspect who is targeting and stabbing men. Investigators believe the suspect has attacked victims in Michigan, Virginia, and now Ohio. Out of the 16 attacks in Flint, Michigan, five have died. In Leesburg, Virginia police say that on August 3, 5, and 6th, three more attacks occurred. Chris Jones with the Leesburg Police told me two victims were attacked with a knife and another with a hammer. Over the weekend, yet another man was attacked in Toledo, Ohio. All of the cases have strong similarities and now investigators are looking for a Chevy S-10 Blazer, four-door, dark green with light tan color trim on the bottom. The vehicle has two large dents near the hood and could be a 1995-2000 model.
Authorities are on the hunt for a man who is fatally stabbing African-American men after asking for their help. Out of 13 attacks, five victims have died so far and three are still in the hospital. The most recent attack was in the early morning hour’s of August 2, 2010. Investigators say 49-year-old Arnold Minor’s body was found on the city’s south side near S. Saginaw Street. A sketch of the suspect was released by investigators on Friday.
I spoke with Lt. TP Johnson of the Flint Police Department and he said, “What this guy is doing is driving up to them, getting out of his vehicle, pretending to have car trouble. Or asking for assistance in some way. The victims are guilty of trying to help someone asking for help. In [sic] several occasions he’s walked up and started stabbing.”

Investigators say the same man who may have killed Morgan Harrington could be the same suspect that committed a sexual assault against a female in 2005. Virginia State Police officials confirm there is a forensic evidence link between the 2005 assault and the murder. Both cases are unsolved, but at least now authorities have a sketch to release to the public. Virginia State Police spokesperson Corinne Geller told me today that the Virginia Department of Forensic Science processes and analyzes all of the evidence and lab work for every department. They notified the Virginia State Police of the link in the cases. The authorities from the state police in turn contacted Fairfax City Police and compared notes. Geller said, “It’s one of those things, you never know what the next phone call is going to bring.” She added, “We know he (the man in the sketch) had contact with her (Morgan) the night of her disappearance, but they don’t know if he is responsible for her death. We are looking to identify and question him, and put the next pieces of the puzzle together.” Within 24 hours of releasing the sketch, the state police had 50 leads. Right now theirtime is spent eliminating duplicates between the departments and prioritizing the tips.
