Investigators say Shawn Morgan, 43, was arrested over the weekend and charged with first degree murder.  Authorities believe Morgan suffocated Breeann and disposed of her body.  According to the probable cause affidavit, Morgan admits that he discovered Breeann standing on his pool ladder, he carried her inside and suffocated her with a white bag.  “Morgan states he felt like it took an hour for the girl to die,” according to the court documents.  Once Breeann stopped breathing, Morgan admits he then threw her body into the floodway ditch.

At this point, the search to find Breeann is a recovery effort.  Investigators zoned in on Morgan’s home on Friday night and took him into custody Saturday.   Along with first degree murder, Dunklin County Prosecutor has also charged Morgan with armed criminal action and tampering with physical evidence.   Morgan is held without bond and will appear in Circuit Court 9 a.m. Tuesday.  The hearing Tuesday will indicate whether he will employ his own council .

MISSING: Search Is Back On For Middle School Teacher, Shelley Mook

Thursday, June 2nd, 2011

Shelley Mook (missing)

Shelley Mook (missing)

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation re-launched a search this week to find missing Harris Middle School teacher Shelley Mook.  Authorities targeted a rural area about 50 miles south of Nashville, in Chapel Hill.  TBI investigators were on the ground all day Wednesday searching the land and water.  They say the area is significant because it may be a place Shelley made contact with someone before she disappeared.

Shelley was last seen on February 28 when she dropped off her daughter at her ex-husbands house.  The plan was for her to leave that location and head to her new apartment to meet a maintenance worker.  Unfortunately, Shelley did not make it to her apartment, and a short time later her vehicle was found burned out in Bedford County.  Investigators do consider her ex-husband a person of interest, but no one has been officially charged in this case.

If you have any information, please call the Bedford County Sheriff’s Department at 931-684-3232

NY SERIAL KILLER? Search Resumes Today For More Bodies

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

serialserialInvestigators confirm the search in the Gilgo and Oak Beach area will continue today with the help of multiple police agencies, the fire department and police recruits.  Since December 2010, eight bodies have been found in the area.  Authorities confirm the first four bodies discovered in the winter were prostitutes, they may have met the suspect on line and that victims may have died at the hands of a serial killer.  One of the victims was reported missing about three and a half years ago and another was seen alive as early as last fall.

We do not know the identities of the most recent women found, but authorities say that none of the victims are missing woman Shannen Gilbert.  Police say Shannan’s family initially reported her missing in May 2010, and that report is what sparked searches for her body which in turn  uncovered the last eight victims.

Is a serial killer at work and are these bodies connected to a murder scene of other murdered prostitutes in 2006?  We can confirm the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office in Atlantic City is in contact with Suffolk County Police in New York to see if there is a possible link. Both agencies are working the homicides in their jurisdictions and are carefully piecing together clues.

Now the public can go beyond the poster when searching for fugitives and helping the FBI.  With a new site redesign and more than 600 active cases to profile, the public can use search tools to narrow their searches.

If you visit FBI.GOV you can now type in things like location, gender, crime, reward and more specific information.  Each profile links to an old fashion poster you can still print and includes PDFs you can share.

The FBI says the profiles are organized in three sections:

•       Wanted fugitives

•       Missing persons

•       Seeking information

The FBI says to date 56 cases have been solved as a direct result of website publicity, including the work the Public Affairs unit does with social networking and other avenues to profile fugitives and missing persons.
