Marc Bookal MISSING

Breaking news update:  Investigators say they just discovered the body of Marc Bookal in a wooded area, possibly in a duffel bag… story developing…

Investigators are back on the scene today searching for clues that will hopefully lead them to missing toddler Marc Bookal.  Marc went missing on December 14, 2009, and hasn’t been seen since.  He was reported missing to authorities by his mother’s boyfriend, Cory Byrd.  Byrd told authorities he found the downstairs door to his home open, and Marc was nowhere to be found.  Sgt. Toomey with the Newburg police told me Marc has discoloration on the back of his hands from a recent burn injury, and he was last seen wearing a red long sleeved shirt, gray sweatpants, and Nike shoes.

Over the last few months, the searches have resumed, and then been called off, then back on again.  Byrd was initially charged with endangering the welfare of a child, but that charge was dropped. He is currently serving a 15 month sentence for violating his parole because police say when he was initially arrested, he had marijuana in his blood stream.

GROUND SEARCH BACK ON

Marc Bookal missing

The ground search for Marc Bookal is back on after investigators received a lead that sent them back to the neighborhood the toddler went missing from.  Authorities began searching the area around Benkard Avenue as well as inside and outside Liberty Street School in the area on Friday morning and will continue until the lead is exhausted.

Marc Bookal was reported missing by his mother’s boyfriend, Cory Byrd on December 14, 2009.  Marc’s family has gone through the freezing weather and the holidays without their child, and earlier this week, police called off the ground search.  The child hasn’t been seen since Byrd told police that he found the downstairs door open to their home, and Marc missing.  Earlier this week, police told me they called off the ground search to locate Marc, but the investigation to find out what happened to him is still on going.
