UPDATE: 12:15 p.m. 10/18/2011 - FROM MONTGOMERY CO. POLICE

Today, Montgomery County Police Chief J. Thomas Manger has announced that this morning, at approximately 9:11 a.m., a Montgomery County Police Department K-9 handler and a volunteer K-9 handler from the Mid-Atlantic D.O.G.S. Search and Rescue located the body of a young, African-American male off of Clarksburg Road about a quarter mile west of Frederick Road in Clarksburg, MD.  The body is believed to be that of William McQuain.

Due to surveillance video that detectives obtained during the course of the investigation, police now believe that McQuain’s body has been in this location since October 1, 2011.  The surveillance video, obtained from a self-storage facility located in the 13200 block of Wisteria Drive in Germantown, showed William McQuain and Curtis Lopez entering and re-entering a storage unit during the morning of October 1.  At that time, William McQuain appeared to be in a playful mood and showed no signs of distress.  The clothing that William McQuain was wearing in the video is similar to the clothing found on the body that was located today in Clarksburg.

Madeline Morris has been searching for her missing son for nearly four years. Montgomery County Police say John James Morris, 37, went missing from Dickerson, Maryland on July 30, 2007.  He was last seen near his home at the 2400 block of White’s Ferry Road standing at the end of the driveway.

At the time he vanished, John shared his residence with his boyfriend. Police say his vehicle and belongings were left behind and there has been no trace of him since. In a press release, Montgomery County Police say, “Extensive investigative techniques have been used during this multi-year investigation to try to gain information about what may have happened to Morris. No evidence has been developed to confirm whether or not Morris remains alive. The family believes that he would not have stayed away this long without making contact with his family. His family also believes that he would not intentionally have left and abandoned his dog. At this stage of the investigation, foul play is suspected.”

It’s taken 26 years for one victim in Montgomery County, Maryland to get justice for her case.  Detectives announced they’ve made an arrest in a rape that occurred all the way back in 1984.

Authorities say on October 13, 1984, a female was walking home from Montgomery Mall near Democracy Boulevard and Old Georgetown Road.  I know this area well because this is a mall I frequent.  The victim was approached by an unknown suspect and in the blink of an eye he started to beat and rape her before fleeing the scene.  Thankfully a motorist stopped to assist the victim and call police.

For all these years the case was unsolved; that is until April 2010.  According to a press release, detectives from the Cold Case Unit re-opened the case and physical evidence was submitted for forensic examination.  “Based on the analysis, a DNA profile was obtained and uploaded into the CODIS database.  Once the profile was uploaded, a match was obtained and a suspect was identified,” said authorities.

GUNMAN SHOT DEAD AT DISCOVERY CHANNEL HEADQUARTERS

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010
James Lee, Discovery Channel Suspect
James Lee, Suspect

It was a four hour standoff at the Discovery Channel headquarters in Silver Spring, Md., a suburb of Washington, D.C. today before three hostages were released and the man who held them captive was shot and killed.  Montgomery County Police Chief Thomas Manger said James Lee, 43, a frequent protestor, was upset with Discovery’s environmental programming for some time now.  Just after 1 p.m. he burst through the lobby of the headquartered building with a gun and canisters strapped to his body.  The canisters appeared to be explosives and Manger said the device went off, but he wouldn’t elaborate on the details.
Witnesses report hearing multiple shots when Lee entered the building, but investigators have not verified that information either.  Lee has protested the network in the past because he believed Discovery had very little to do with actually saving the planet, and their focus was more on products to make money.  In 2008 Lee was arrested in Silver Spring for throwing money in the air and trying to draw crowds and attention to his message about the network.

John Morris was 37-years-old when he went missing from Dickerson, Maryland on July 30, 2007.  He was last seen around 11 p.m. near the 240000 block of Whites Ferry Road standing at the end of a driveway he shared with his boyfriend.  John is a talented artist who leaves behind a loving family and a network of support from friends.  The CUE Center for Missing Persons has joined the search to help find John as well.  John’s mother says he has attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, and a history of depression.  John has a tattoo of a scorpion on his left shoulder and a snake on his right forearm.  According to the FINDJOHNMORRIS website, he has a scar on his right calf, and his left ear is pierced.

John’s mother leaves this message on his website, “If you have any idea of what happened to John.
Please be a human being with a conscience and come forward. The truth will set you free. If you were paid or paid someone to hurt John, remember, money won’t buy your way out of the fires of hell.  What comes around goes around, if not here, but at your final judgment day.  Only you can make things right by coming forward and beg God’s forgiveness.”
