ESTER WESTENBARGER (CUE picture)

I spoke with Lt. Hargrove with Howard County Sheriff’s office in Indiana.  He says Ester Westenbarger went missing on November 12, 2009 when she left the Miller’s tavern in town.  Ester and her vehicle a Cadillac CTS are still missing.  Lt. Hargrove told me Ester was pretty new to the area, she recently moved from Ohio when she lost her job with Chrysler.  She accepted a buy out from her former company and came to Indiana to start over.  Ester’s group of friends was limited because she was fairly new to town, however there were times she did frequent some bars in the area.  The weekend after she was reported missing, Ester was supposed to show up to a family gathering, and her family members knew Ester wouldn’t miss that.  Investigators have interviewed a multitude of people in this case, but so far, nothing has led them to this missing mom.

The CUE Center for Missing Persons is highlighting this case, and doing what they can to help accept leads.  Please call their 24 hour tip line at (910) 232-1687

JENNIFER HURT’S CAR FOUND

Jennifer Hurt

Jennifer Hurt

I just got off the phone with Lt. Capps from the Memphis Police department, and she tells me Jennifer’s Oldsmobile was found yesterday upside down in a creek.  She said a body was found inside, but it has not been identified yet.  Investigators say Jennifer Hurt vanished without a trace last Friday.  Jennifer’s family says she left her 3-year-old daughter behind, and never showed for a doctor’s appointment.  Her mom called police to report her daughter missing, and has been trying her cell phone ever since.  Jennifer works for Fed-Ex, and was last seen in her uniform.

Moving day for Josh Powell

Saturday, January 9th, 2010
Josh Powell 'person of interest'

Josh Powell 'person of interest'

Today is moving day for Susan Powell’s husband Josh.  Although his wife has been missing from their home for more than a month, he is packing up his house in Utah, and  moving 800 miles away to Puyallup, Washington.  Friends of the Powell family told me earlier this week that Josh was fired from his job, cannot get work, and is having trouble keeping up with the payments on his home.  He feels it is best to pack up his children and move where he has more support… and most likely, more privacy.  Josh reached out to friends of his church and neighbors to help him move out.  Anyone who wants to help is asked to arrive at 1 p.m. EST

Investigators have served multiple search warrants on the Powell home, one for the family vehicle, and one to retrieve Josh Powell’s DNA.  Police say they are still awaiting  DNA results from the crime lab on evidence seized from the warrants. While the family van was being searched, investigators told me Josh rented a car, and drove for several hundred miles.  They do not know where he went, and they are working to figure out where he went during that time.

1:46 p.m. EST – Josh Powell, person of interest in the disapperace of his wife Susan Powell is reportedly packing up and moving his family to Washington state.  Josh has been staying in Puyallup, Washington with his family over the holidays, and has apparently made the decision to be with his family.  I can confirm at this hour, Josh is in Utah, and his children are with his family back in Washington.  The family mini-van is inside the Powell family garage at this time, and I can tell you that Josh has reached out to friends, neighbors and church friends to help him move this weekend.  Investigators have served multiple serach warrants on the Powell home, one for the family vehicle, and one to retreive Josh Powell’s DNA.  Police say they are still awaiting  DNA results from the crime lab on evidence seized from the warrants. Susan Powell 72 hour media blitz

Monday, January 4th, 2010

SUSAN POWELL0n198478842187_463Family and friends of Susan Powell are launching a 72 hour media blitz and purple ribbon campaign starting today.  The goal is to get as much attention and coverage for Susan who went missing on December 7, 2009.  This effort will use facebook, twitter, and youtube to get the word out about this missing mom, and the goal is to drum up new leads for investigators.  Since her disappearance, Susan’s husband, Josh Powell has been named a person of interest.

Josh Powell is not the sole person of interest, Assistant Chief Black told me they have other persons of interest, but they are not naming those people at this time.  Please keep in mind, a person of interest can be eliminated in an investigation, or can graduate to becoming a suspect.  Josh Powell is not a suspect at this time.  Although Josh is not considered a suspect, I am also told that he is not cooperating with the investigation at all, and will not answer specifics about his wife’s disappearance.  His lawyer has not been in contact with authorities recently as well. Josh at this time, from what we know, is visiting family members in Washington state.  He drove more than 900 miles to be in Washington, and attend a prayer vigil on Sunday night for his wife Susan, and he did not speak to her parents while he was there.  He did however speak to one of Susan’s sisters, and gave her a hug.

Where did Josh Powell go?

Susan Powell missing

Susan Powell missing

I just got off the phone with Assistant Police Chief Black and he confirms to me Josh Powell rented a car in Salt Lake city two evenings after his wife went missing, and drove for hundreds of miles.  Police do confirm there is a period of time they cannot account for Josh, or his whereabouts.  So far, five search warrants have been executed on this case, three to make entry into the Powell family home, one for the family mini-van, and one for Josh Powell’s DNA. An anonymous donor just came forward and is offering a $10,000 reward for information to find Susan.

Cops search home again – SUSAN POWELL MISSING

Friday, December 18th, 2009

SUSAN POWELL0Susanpowell-ColorInvestigators are trying to piece together more on Susan Powell’s disappearance, and they have conducted a second search of the Powell residence.  Cops are looking to collect more physical evidence, and to process what they gather through the crime lab.  Assistant Chief Black says Josh Powell is considered a person of interest, and earlier this week, with his attorney, Josh did submit to a DNA sample.  Assistant Chief Black told me Josh answered a few general questions about his wife, but he would not answer any detailed questions about Susan (i.e. any enemies she may have had, answers about their personal relationship, etc).  Josh’s position to the media is that he wants to find his wife, and investigators working the case want to find her too, but Assistant Chief Black says without answers to many questions they have for Josh, and having a working partnership with him, “it really hinders finding her in a timely manner.”

Assistant Chief Black says there’s enough circumstantial evidence to indicate that this is uncharacteristic of Susan to just disappear, and they are exploring the possibility that foul play could be involved.  They don’t want to treat this case early on that Susan just up and walked away, they want to take all accounts into play in case this turns into a criminal investigation in the end.

Candlelight Vigil for Kristi Cornwell

Kristi Cornwell Missing

Kristi Cornwell Missing

On December 20, 2009, Kristi Cornwell’s friends and family are planning a candlelight vigil to celebrate Kristi’s 39th birthday.  The community is gathering at Meeks Park, Highway 515, in Blairsville, Georgia.  If you cannot attend, the family is requesting the public to stop to pray at 7 p.m. for her safe return.  Along with Kristi’s birthday, the holidays are here too.  This is an extremely difficult time for those close to her to spend this holiday season without their loved one.  My thoughts and prayers to Kristi’s family and friends, and I hope she is found very soon.

BACKGROUND:

The last anyone heard from Kristi Cornwell was on August 11, 2009.  Now, investigators say she may have been abducted by the same man who tried to abduct a woman in North Carolina a few days before.  Today, investigators released a sketch of a man they are looking for, and a possible vehicle he could be driving.

Susan Powell Missing
Susan Powell Missing

SUSAN POWELL MISSING

Earlier this afternoon, I spoke to West Valley City Assistant Police Chief Black, and he went into the detail the timeline surrounding Susan’s disappearance.  So far, this is what we have since Susan was last seen on evening of December 6th into the early morning hours of December 7, 2009.

Sunday, December 6, 2009:  According to the Assistant Chief, Susan went to bed, and was last seen around 12:30 a.m. sleeping.  Her husband, Joshua Powell told investigators he took his children, ages 2 and 4, camping after his wife went to sleep.  There was snow on the ground, and it was extremely cold.  Susan and Josh were both due at work first thing in the morning.

Monday, December 7, 2009:  Authorities say Susan and Josh do not show up for work, and Susan’s family calls police.  At that point, investigators made entry into their home to check their welfare.  When investigators went inside the house, they realized no one was there.  Assistant Chief Black says the officers backed out, and obtained a search warrant to come back in.
