THE SEARCH CONTINUES FOR MISSING MOM SUSAN POWELL

Susan Powell - missing (Hardman photography)

Over the weekend, dozens of searchers descended on the area where missing mom Susan Powell’s husband says he went camping the night she disappeared.  Josh Powell is officially named a “person of interest” in this case, but investigators have not moved forward with any official charges.  When Susan went missing on December 7, 2009, Josh told investigators he took his two small children out in the middle of the night in the West Desert. Since then many searches have been executed, but unfortunately nothing has been uncovered.  Since the warm weather broke in the spring, many bodies have been discovered throughout the area where Susan went missing. None of the bodies have been Susan.

As for Susan’s family, they aren’t going to let the public forget their loved one. A billboard for the missing mom is now standing tall along route 161 in Washington State.  Susan’s parents, Chuck and Judy Cox, want to put their daughter back in the hearts of everyone with hopes of drumming up new leads.  This billboard is near the Cox’s home in Puyallup, Washington, the same place Josh Powell moved with their two small children not long after Susan went missing.  The Cox family has plans to put another billboard up in the Salt Lake City area this week.

John Morris (family photo)

Madeline Morris has been searching for her missing son for nearly three years, and this week the case received added attention when a $1,000 reward was announced to help find her son.  Montgomery County Police say John Morris, 37, went missing from Dickerson, Maryland on July 30, 2007.  He was last seen near his home at the 2400 block of White’s Ferry Road standing at the end of the driveway.  At the time, John shared his residence with his boyfriend, and police say his vehicle and belongings were left behind when he went missing.  In a new press release, Montgomery County Police say, “extensive investigative techniques have been used during this multi-year investigation to try to gain information about what may have happened to Morris.  No evidence has been developed to confirm whether or not Morris remains alive.  The family believes that he would not have stayed away this long without making contact with his family.  His family also believes that he would not intentionally have left and abandoned his dog.  At this stage of the investigation, foul play is suspected.”

Remembering Morgan (family photo)

Remembering Morgan (family photo)

As the world waits to learn more about Morgan Harrington’s official cause of death, the support for the Harrington family keeps growing.  On Friday night, many friends from the virtual world gathered in front of the Harrington’s home to honor Morgan with a candlelight vigil on Friday night.  Internet tools like Facebook, Twitter, and Morgan’s website were the same some of the places supporters organized an effort for Morgan and her family.  Many people who gathered at the Harrington household in the cold say they never met Morgan in person, only to know her by her beautiful pictures and words from her family and friends, but their souls were touched by her spirit.

Last week, police confirm remains found on a Virginia farm are in fact those of Morgan Harrington.  I spoke to State Police officials today, and they say they are working to determine Morgan’s cause and time of death.  I spoke with the Medical Examiner’s in Richmond last week, and they say in normal cases an autopsy to include toxicology reports normally take 24 hours, but in this case, it could take weeks.  State police investigators were at the ME’s office later last week working with the pathologists as they took x-rays and gathered information.  Authorities are on the farm for days conducting a grid search, and gathering as much evidence as they could.  Police say Morgan’s body could have been on the farm for as many as 100 days.

JOHN GLASGOW MISSING

It’s been nearly two years since John Glasgow went missing in Little Rock, Arkansas.  John’s neighbor told police in the early morning hours of January 28, 2008 he saw John’s SUV leave his home.  Unfortunately, police say John never arrived at work that day, but his vehicle was found the next day in the Marther Lodge parking lot.  Inside John’s SUV were his laptop, cell phone and keys.  No one knows what happened to him, and his family is desperate for answers.  If you have any information on his whereabouts, please contact the Conway County Sheriff’s office:

Devon Hollahan is originally from Arizona, but in July 2009, he left the states to settle in Prague.  His goal was to attend school to get his certification to teach English as a second language overseas, and he achieved that goal this past September.  I spoke to Devon’s father Jeffery Hollahan this morning, who told me the story about how his son went missing, and about his journey to find his child overseas.
