The Jupiter Police Department just released these photographs of murder suspect Paul Merhige.  They were taken at an ATM on November 22, 2009.  If you look closely, you can see Merhige’s receding hair line, glasses, and stocky build.

Police in Jupiter, FL are on the hunt for Paul Merhige who is wanted for four counts of first degree murder.  This horrific event played out Thanksgiving night just after dinner.  Cops say invited guest, Paul Michael Merhige, 35, left the house, and came back at 10 p.m. with a handgun to kill.  Some of the victims include his own innocent 6-year-old cousin who was sleeping in her bed at the time.  Police say Merhige also allegedly shot and killed his twin 33-year-old sisters, and his 76-year-old aunt.  Investigators have learned through a series of interviews that Merhige does have on-going resentment towards some of the family members, but no one can begin to understand why he would take the lives of these innocent victims.

Suspected Cop Killer Shot and Killed by Police

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

After a two-day manhunt, investigators say members from the Seattle police department shot and killed the man they believe murdered four police officers at a coffee shop.

Maurice Clemmons

Investigators believe Clemmons is the man who shot and killed four Lakewood police officers on Sunday, November 29, 2009 in what they believe was an ambush attack.   Sgt. Mark Renninger, 39; Ronald Owens, 37; Tina Griswold, 40; and Greg Richards 42, were inside the Forza coffee shop preparing for their shift when the gunman entered and opened fire. Two baristas and customers were inside when gunfire erupted, and no one else was injured during this attack.  It is unclear if the shooter said anything before they opened fire, but police believe one of the officers had a chance to fire back at Clemmons, and he may have been hit.
Pierce County Sheriff’s department said in a press release, “Clemmons has extensive violent criminal history from Arkansas, including aggravated robbery and theft. He has also recently been arrested and charged in Pierce County for Assault 3rd on a Police Officer and for Rape of a Child.”  Police say they had to detain people along the way who they believed helped Clemmons, and they eventually surrounded a home they believed he was in.  Police now confirm that location was searched, and Clemmons was not inside.  Investigators do believe Clemmons has a gunshot wound to the trunk of his body, and he is armed and dangerous.I had a conversation earlier today with an employee at the Pulaski County Circuit Court Clerk’s office.  They confirm Maurice Clemmons was convicted of these charges below:
  • 1989: Aggravated robbery and theft of property
