UPDATE: Investigators in Indiana Aliahna’s body was found in northeast Allen County. She went missing on Friday when Mike Plumadore, a neighbor, was watching Aliahna and her sisters. He is facing a murder charge.

Investigators say Lauren Spierer was last seen at 4:30 a.m. and was in the Bloomington, Indiana area near the corner of 11th Street and College Avenue on June 3. Since then, hundreds of volunteers and law enforcement officials have donated their time to help find the missing student. Now, 61 days into the investigation, authorities are turning their focus to an area landfill.
The site is 55 miles from where Lauren was last seen, and it could hold evidence or clues to where she could be. It is unclear at this point when the search will begin. Peg Mulloy, Republic Services spokesperson said they have had, “discussions with the FBI and Bloomington police regarding the Sycamore Ridge Landfill.” Mulloy said out of the 200 landfills they oversee, this would not be the first time they’ve corporate with law enforcement on the recovery of a body or evidence. Republic Services also opened up another site to find a missing child known as Baby Gabrielle.

Dr. Promila Mehta-Paul (personal photo)
It’s been one week since Dr. Promila Mehta-Paul, 70, vanished and police have not ruled out foul play in her disappearance. Police say her house showed no signs of a disturbance, they have not discovered anything out of the ordinary in her past but her family and friends are in shock that she’s missing.
Investigators say Mehta-Paul is an eye doctor who was last seen making a deposit one week ago at the First Financial Bank in Highland. She had a full schedule the next day with patients lined up, but workers say she did not show or call in. This is not characteristic of her to just disappear.
Investigators in Indiana are searching for gold, 2001, Rav 4 belonging to Mehta-Paul. This vehicle could have an Indiana or California license plate. If you have any information at all on this case, please contact the Munster Police: (219) 836-6600
