It’s been nearly two months since a family of four vanished in California. Family member Michael McStay told me today, “I am looking down every leg of this octopus.”   Authorities say Joseph McStay, 40, his wife Summer, 43, Gianni, 4, and Joseph, 3, disappeared on February 4, 2010. Four days later, the family’s white Isuzu Trooper was found and towed from the Mexican border in San Ysidro.  Michael McStay told me he has video from his brother’s neighbor of the evening they left their home. “The car was backed into the driveway, and it was making a left out (of the driveway), you cannot see who is in it, they pulled out at 7:47 p.m., and his last phone call was 8:48 p.m., they could have been running out for food, they could have been running somewhere to pick up something from Craigslist.  There is a possibility that we are looking for a crime scene, we just don’t know where it’s at.”

Investigators are working to locate a missing family of four.  Authorities say Joseph McStay, 40, his wife Summer, 43, Gianni, 4, and Joseph, 3, vanished on February 4, 2010.  Four days later, the families white Isuzu Trooper was found and towed from the Mexican border in San Ysidro.

Unable to reach them, Michael McStay, Joseph’s brother, reported the family members missing to police 11 days after they went missing. Investigators dispatched to check on the family’s welfare, and found no signs of them.  Their animals had been left in the yard without food or water, and it didn’t appear as if they had packed up and gone on a vacation.

Family members are appealing for help in finding their missing loved ones while investigators check their bank accounts and cell phone records. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office Homicide division will work with the Mexican Authorities to see if the family crossed the border and to try to locate any evidence that could lead to their whereabouts.
