Jorelys Rivera, 7,  was outside playing with her friends on Friday, Dec. 2 when she vanished.  Police say Jorelys was on the playground at the River Ridge at Canton Apartment complex when someone abducted, beat, sexually assaulted and murdered the child.  An intense search took place throughout the weekend, but there were no clues that led to Jorelys.

On Monday, Dec. 5, authorities removed a trash dumpster on the property and hauled it to a nearby open field.  They sifted through the garbage until they reached the bottom of the container.  It was there that Jorelys body was discovered. 

A press conference later today will determine her official cause of death.  Authorities continue to set up road blocks in the area, stopping every car that enters and exits the complex.  They’ve also been going from door-to-door interviewing residents. The River Ridge At Canton has 356 apartments on site and it’s possible someone saw something last Friday.  Jorelys was last seen around 5 p.m.  Grief counselors remain on site at her elementary school to help classmates deal with this tragic loss.

Authorities released video of three siblings involved in a shoot out with a deputy.  Pasco County Sheriff’s office said a white vehicle would not pull over for a traffic stop in Zephyrills, FL around 7 a.m. on August 2.  The video shows the deputy chasing a white Subaru when seven to nine rounds were fired at him. 

Later that same day, just after 12-noon, investigators in Valdosta, Georgia responded to shots fired inside a bank.  Three suspects, all wearing masks and dressed in black, stormed inside a Certus Bank and began firing shots into the air, instructing all innocent victims inside to get on the ground.  Authorities believe two out of the three robbers had weapons and one was described as an AK-47. 

Through the course of the investigation, the FBI tied the suspects to both incidents and discovered the suspects had something in common — they are all related.  Agents believe two brothers and a sister are responsible for the hold-up and the attempted murder and are identified as Ryan, Dylan and Lee Grace Dougherty.  Ryan Doughterty was recently sentenced to 12 years probation on Volusia County for charges of lewd and lascivious conduct involving a victim under the age of 16.  Within 24 hours of being sentenced, authorities say Dougherty cut off his ankle monitor bracelet and left town with his brother and sister.

The getaway car is described as a 2006, white Subaru Impreza, New York license plate: FBE5900.

According to an FBI press release, the subjects, all siblings, are described as follows:

Ryan Edward Dougherty, white male, age 21, 5’10” in height, 180 lbs., brown hair, brown eyes.

Dylan Dougherty Stanley, white male, age 26, 6’1” in height, 185 lbs., brown hair, blue eyes.

Lee Grace E. Dougherty, white female, age 29, 5’4” in height, 120 lbs., brown hair, brown eyes.

Digital billboards are launched across the south from Florida to Kentucky.

Pricilla Ristick Missing: photo Gwinnett County Police

Authorities say Pricilla Dina Ristick went missing on Sunday as she and her uncle Joey Thompson sold flowers in a parking lot in Georgia.  Thompson told investigators he walked into a nearby business on Indian Trail Road and left her outside, when he came back out he was told by other people that Pricilla got into a white van and left. 

Gwinnett County Police indicate there’s a chance she possibly left with a woman named Nancy, but no other details are provided at this time.  

Corporal Jacob Smith with the Gwinnett County Police said they are treating this case as an abduction investigation, “A detective has seen the security video from the shopping center, what you can clearly tell is her walking, speeds up and leaves the field of view.  A minute later, a white van drives past.”  No one at this point can say 100% that Pricilla got into the van, but the case is being treated as if she did.  When asked if this case would become an Amber Alert (also known as a Levi’s Call in Georgia), Corporal Smith said they have applied to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, but because there was not enough information, an Amber Alert was not granted.  An agent there is the one who approves the alerts.

Corporal Smith also said Pricilla made a phone call to her mother on Sunday night, “based on the phone call she made to her mother, she did not seem in distress.  She was with a person named Nancy, saying Nancy is not going to let me come home.  Nancy is going to call police and the Department of Child and Family Services tomorrow.”  That phone call never happened.   

Pricilla was last seen wearing a grey jacket, blue jeans and black shoes.  She has red hair and stands about four feet tall and weighs around 95 pounds.

Just before the New Year, on Dec. 30, police say Kejuan Charde Hall was attacked and stabbed on the job.  Kejuan had just turned 25 on Christmas Eve and was eight weeks pregnant when she died.  Friends say she was looking forward to New Year’s Eve to share her pregnancy news with her family. 

Investigators say Kejuan was working at the Golden Pantry Shell station in Athens, Ga. when an unknown man wearing a dark knit cap came into her store, attacked and killed her.

At this point, the motive does not appear to be robbery because authorities say the only thing taken was the surveillance tape.  When the suspect is identified, found and arrested, he will be charged with a double homicide.

Kejuan leaves behind an 8-year-old daughter.

Remembering Steven Green (victim)

Steven Green has had quite a life.  He grew up in Savannah, Georgia and attended public schools in Chatham County. A few years ago Steven was shot and badly injured when he was robbed at gunpoint as he sold clothes.  Thankfully he survived, but due to his injuries he had to start using a cane to get around.  Before long he became self employed and accepted the responsibility of being a property manager in Savannah, Georgia where he was well respected by his community. 

On Sundays Steven attended church, and during the week he worked hard to earn a living. Late last year, on November 9, he was contacted by a couple wanting to rent a property he was overseeing.  The pair, Lakeya Jenkins and Ninja Hassan Wheeler, set up a time to view the property.  They seemed interested in renting a new home and it appeared to be a normal meeting. Investigators say Steven, with his cane in tow, met the couple at the property.  Jenkins asked a lot of questions as Wheeler looked around.

Authorities say when Wheeler emerged from the back bedroom he was carrying a gun and wearing a bandana.  He then started firing shots.  Steven was hit hard and fell to the floor.  Police say Steven lay bleeding to death, as investigators say Jenkins and Wheeler cleaned out his pockets.  Before the suspects fled, Wheeler fired another shot at Steven as he lay on the ground.

Sadly by the time investigators arrived, Steven had died.  His cane that had helped him to get along was found lying right next to him.  Over the last year investigators have worked diligently to piece the murder puzzle together, and it wasn’t long before they caught up with Lakeya Jenkins.  She was arrested in Savannah and has since been indicted by Chatham County Grand Jury for armed robbery and murder, among other charges.    

Steven’s mother wants justice for her son.  Investigators say a murder warrant is still active for Ninja Hassan Wheeler.  Authorities say he was in Savannah a short time before the alleged murder and is originally from Trenton, NJ.

Christian Guevara - MISSING

UPDATE:  Great news, Christian was found alive.

An active amber alert (Levi’s call) in Georgia is out for 4-year-old Christian Guevara.  Police say the abduction occurred around 9:15 a.m. at a trailer park in Cobb County.  Christian is a Hispanic male who is only 3 feet tall, weighs 30 pounds, and has brown shaggy hair.  He was last seen wearing pajamas with cars on them.  Initial reports say he was abducted by two men wearing ski masks and they were seen fleeing in a white Chevrolet Suburban with unknown tags.

KRISTI CORNWELL MISSING

The last anyone heard from Kristi Cornwell was on August 11, 2009.  Since then, investigators say an anonymous grandmother wrote a letter into the Cherokee County Sheriff’s department and said her grandson was working in the area at the time Kristi was hit and abducted.  A formal letter released by Cherokee County Sheriff’s says,”Evidence has been obtained which lead investigators to believe that between August 1^st and August 25^, 2009 that the described person was in the Western North Carolina area working for a relative, specifically his grandmother, and that he was doing some handy man work.  The person was believed to have been driving a white Nissan Exterra with a brush guard and would have been bearing a Florida tag.”  Kristi’s family is begging that grandmother to come forward today with more information to help solve Kristi’s case. 

Authorities say Kristi Cornwell was exercising in Blairsville, Georgia down Jones Creek Road when she was allegedly abducted.  Investigators say around 9:00 p.m., Kristi was on the phone with her boyfriend, who was in Atlanta at the time, when a car approached her, there was a struggle, and she was never seen again.  A reward of $50,000 is offered for information leading to the safe return of Kristi, or arrest/conviction to the person responsible for her disappearance.  Kristi’s family is extremely proactive in this case.  They started a website, they have frequent, sometimes daily searches of the area where she went missing, and they even auctioned off the family’s lake house property over the weekend to raise money to help find this missing mother.

Kristi Cornwell Missing

On December 20, 2009, Kristi Cornwell’s friends and family are planning a candlelight vigil to celebrate Kristi’s 39th birthday.  The community is gathering at Meeks Park, Highway 515, in Blairsville, Georgia.  If you cannot attend, the family is requesting the public to stop to pray at 7 p.m. for her safe return.  Along with Kristi’s birthday, the holidays are here too.  This is an extremely difficult time for those close to her to spend this holiday season without their loved one.  My thoughts and prayers to Kristi’s family and friends, and I hope she is found very soon.
