The FBI is on the hunt for Semion Mogilevich. They say he allegedly participated in a multi-million dollar scheme to defraud investors. Mogilevich is charged with more than 40 counts of racketeering, wire fraud, money laundering, and is on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted. Agents believe Mogilevich is responsible for dozens of other crimes across the world as well.  There is a $100,000 reward for information leading to his arrest. We know Russia is Mogilevich’s primary residence, but investigators say he is known to have ties to the United States and England as well.

HOW DOES THE FBI CHOOSE THEIR TOP TEN?

According to the FBI website:

  • The process starts when our Criminal Investigative Division’s Violent Crimes/Major Offenders Unit asks each of the 56 field offices to nominate candidates.
  • To be considered, fugitives must have committed a crime of violence and present a continuing danger to the community, and the publicity from their addition to the list could assist with their capture.
  • Nominations are reviewed by staff in the Violent Crimes Unit, and selections are forwarded up the chain of command and ultimately to the Director’s office for final approval.
