Great news this holiday, baby Angel was safely located and returned to his parents.  Investigators acted quickly on a tip overnight that lead to the child’s location.  Police say a 19-year-old woman was arrested, and a detailed investigation is taking place. FBI Agents from the Child Abduction Rapid Deployment team (Card Team) deployed to this location assisting law enforcement in South Carolina to help find Angel Miguel Perez

Investigators say Angel went missing on Monday, November 23, 2009, and are trying to determine if the mother and her child were followed throughout the day before the baby was snatched.  Investigators told me Angel was taken out of his mom’s car after she ran into a local post office for a few minutes to buy stamps, she locked three of the four doors, and kept the car running as Angel stayed in his car seat. When she came back out to her car, she noticed her child was gone. Witnesses report seeing a charcoal or dark grey four-door compact car with a rear spoiler near the location from where the child went missing.

FBI: CRIMES AGAINST CHILDREN

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

I had a meeting today with the FBI in Washington, D.C.  This gathering was a great opportunity to get acquainted with agents from the Crimes Against Children specialized unit.  Sometimes when you think of the FBI, you may think intelligence and terrorism, and not so much about child protection.  I learned a lot during our discussion, especially when it relates to child abductions, and I want to pass this insight along to you.

The FBI Crimes Against Children division is stacked with specialized agents in child safety to accomplish two main goals:

1-      Innocence Lost initiative – To prevent child prostitution, and take down the “pimp” predators.

2-      CARD Team – To rapidly deploy a CARD Team anywhere in the country to provide expertise and assist law enforcement during the most critical time period following abduction.
