UPDATE: 12:15 p.m. 10/18/2011 - FROM MONTGOMERY CO. POLICE

Today, Montgomery County Police Chief J. Thomas Manger has announced that this morning, at approximately 9:11 a.m., a Montgomery County Police Department K-9 handler and a volunteer K-9 handler from the Mid-Atlantic D.O.G.S. Search and Rescue located the body of a young, African-American male off of Clarksburg Road about a quarter mile west of Frederick Road in Clarksburg, MD.  The body is believed to be that of William McQuain.

Due to surveillance video that detectives obtained during the course of the investigation, police now believe that McQuain’s body has been in this location since October 1, 2011.  The surveillance video, obtained from a self-storage facility located in the 13200 block of Wisteria Drive in Germantown, showed William McQuain and Curtis Lopez entering and re-entering a storage unit during the morning of October 1.  At that time, William McQuain appeared to be in a playful mood and showed no signs of distress.  The clothing that William McQuain was wearing in the video is similar to the clothing found on the body that was located today in Clarksburg.

Missing in Michigan: Five Fast Facts and Update on Father Behind Bars

This strange story unraveled just after Thanksgiving when three little boys went missing about 75 miles southwest of Detroit. Their father, John Skelton, 39, told police he handed his children, 5-year-old Tanner, 7-year-old Alexander and 9-year-old Andrew off to a woman named Joann Taylor.  In December, Skelton said he gave the children to someone from “an organization.”

Skelton appeared again in court Friday, this time for a hearing relating to his divorce.  The judge asked Skelton if he was prepared to turn the boys over to their mother, and Skelton answered, “I can’t.”  Investigators have said they are not expecting a positive outcome in this case.

1) Who reported the children missing? The boys were reported missing by their mother, Tanya, the day after Thanksgiving when their father didn’t return them home.

2) Does the mystery woman exist? Police say there’s a good chance “Joann” does not exist, even though Skelton claims he met her on the Internet four years ago. Skelton also claims he tried to commit suicide before handing the children off, but authorities are doubting that story as well.

The search efforts will continue this week to find three missing boys in Morenci, Michigan.  About 500 citizens gathered last night for a tree lighting in their community, but many say the gathering was really a tribute to the brothers.

This strange story unraveled nearly two weeks ago when the children went missing about 75 miles southwest of Detroit on the Ohio-Michigan border. Their father, John Skelton, told police he handed his children, 5-year-old Tanner, 7-year-old Alexander and 9-year-old Andrew off to a woman named Joann Taylor. Police say there’s a good chance Joann does not exist, even though Skelton claims he met her on the Internet four years ago.

The children were reported missing by their mother Tanya the day after Thanksgiving when they didn’t return home. The children’s parents are currently separated and going through a divorce and custody battle. Skelton allegedly tried to commit suicide by hanging himself and he claims that he gave the children up before his attempted suicide, investigators are doubting that story as well.

Jean Paul Missing

Jean Paul Missing

This case was running through my mind this morning. I was searching through my files and the date December 18, 2009 popped up. That was the last time I brought you the case of Jean Paul who was taken illegally from his bus stop. Since then, a grand jury issued a felony indictment for the felony offenses of kidnapping, aggravated perjury and interference with child custody against his father, Jean Philippe Lacombe.

Aubrey Sacco MISSING

The parents of a young woman from Colorado are desperate to find their daughter.  Aubrey Caroline Sacco, 23, was traveling alone on the Langtang National Park trek, region north of Kathmandu, but she hasn’t been heard from since May 1, 2010.  Aubrey was nearing the end of a six-month Asian trip where she taught yoga classes at a resort.

Her family put together this timeline of where Aubrey was supposed to be in the days leading up to her disappearance.  Her father Paul Sacco and brother arrived at the US Embassy in Nepal today. Aubrey’s family originally contacted the embassy on May 4, 2010.  Paul will join the search and hike the trails to help find his daughter.

(Update) CALIFORNIA WOMAN FOUND ALIVE

Nancy Salas MISSING

UPDATE:  Investigators say Nancy was found alive in Merced, but was unsure how she made it there.  This case is odd because UCLA says the last time she was enrolled there was in 2008.

Glendale Police say Nancy Salas, 22, went missing yesterday morning as she went for her early morning run.  Nancy is known to go jogging each morning in Chevy Chase Canyon.  Police say her father called them after his daughter didn’t return.  Nancy left her phone, keys and vehicle at her parents’ house before she ventured out.

Sgt. Tom Lorenz with the Glendale Police says Nancy went missing under suspicious circumstances and his department is currently conducting a search of the area.  There are helicopters in the air, and bloodhounds on the ground.

Nancy is in her junior year at UCLA, and her family is concerned she fell victim to foul play.  She weighs 115 pounds and is about 5 feet tall.  If you have any information, please contact Glendale police at (818) 548-4911.

BABY THROWN FROM A BRIDGE

Monday, April 26th, 2010

A three month old baby, who was allegedly thrown by her father off a parkway bridge, may have been found over the weekend.  New Jersey State Police say they are waiting to positively identify the remains, but the body appears to be that of Zara Malani-Lin Abdur-Raheem. This information is based on the clothing and wrappings found on the child.

Investigators say Shamsid-Din Abdur-Raheem, the baby’s father, allegedly snatched the child from her grandmother’s home on February 16, 2010 and threw her off the bridge.  Reports indicate Abdur-Raheem tried to strike the grandmother with a minivan after choking her when she tried to stop the abduction.  The child’s mother was working on a temporary restraining order against Abdur-Raheem before the baby was killed.

Abdur-Raheem is currently being held on a $2 million bail, and pleaded not guilty last month.

AJA JOHNSON WAS ABDUCTED TWO MONTHS AGO

Aja Johnson Missing

Aja Johnson Missing

It’s been 60 days today since Aja Johnson was abducted and her mother Tonya was found beaten to death inside an RV. Since then, investigators in Oklahoma have issued a warrant for Lester Hobbs arrest charging him with first degree murder and kidnapping. I spoke with Deputy U.S. Marshal Arthur Templeton out of the Lawton office again today, and he said there has been no activity on the case. A couple of weeks ago he stated that they have, “not had anything viable on the vehicle, Aja Johnson, or Lester Hobbs,” and sadly that is still the case today.  Templteton did mention that he has a meeting with the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigations later today, and they have plans to discuss new ideas to keep this case in the spotlight.

When this case originally broke, there was a massive ice storm that swept through most of the state of Oklahoma. The storm paralyzed the region for 8 – 14 days. During that period, many folks were without power, so some have not even heard about the Amber Alert or the murder.  That ice storm is long gone, and there are still no signs of this child.
