Thomas Leggs Jr. (mugshot)
Thomas J. Leggs Jr. was convicted Thursday for fourth-degree burglary stemming from a September 11, 2009 incident where he allegedly broke into a woman’s home in Ocean City, Maryland. The victim claims she never gave the convicted sex offender permission to enter her house and she woke up in the middle of the night to find a naked Leggs standing at the end of her bed masturbating. He was given a three year maximum sentence from the judge.
On April 18, 2011 Leggs will be on trial for the kidnapping, rape and murder of 11-year-old Sarah Foxwell. Sarah’s body was found on Christmas morning and he is facing the death penalty in that case. If Leggs is, in fact guilty and responsible for Sarah’s death, there is an obvious escalation in sexual attacks between the alleged September 11, 2009 incident and the abduction of Sarah. Either before, or in the interim, police fear there may be other victims who have not yet come forward. Leggs was given a three year sentence from the judge on Thursday.

- Rodney Alcala (March 2010)
A convicted serial killer who once appeared on the dating game in the 1970’s is now sitting on death row for the third time. Rodney Alcala represented himself in court last week for the rapes and murders of four women and one child, and police fear there may be even more victims. Alcala was found guilty of murdering 12-year-old Robin Samsoe in 1980 and again in1986 and was sentenced to death both times, but appeals overturned the cases, prolonging the pain for the victim’s family. This case was prolonged much like police say Alcala prolonged the lives of his victims. As he would strangle them, and just before they would die, Alcala would bring them back to life by resuscitating them.
The District Attorney’s office was finally able to link four adult cases with DNA to put Alcala on trial for the murders of child Robin Samsoe, 12 and adults Jill Barcomb, 18, Jill Parenteau, 21, Georgia Wixted, 27, and Charlotte Lamb, 32. The prosecutors say he raped one of the women with a claw hammer. On March 9, 2010, Alcala was sentenced to death againor the rape and murder of Robin and the murders of the other four women. Let’s just hope this time Alcala isn’t granted yet another appeal.

Arcade Joseph Comeaux
Arcade Joseph Comeaux is supposed to be confined to a wheelchair, and is supposed to be behind bars. Somehow, officials say, he gained access to a gun, held up two officers, and took off on his own two feet. On Monday, November 30, 2009, officials say Comeaux took two transport officers from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice hostage with a gun, and fled on foot. Officials say Comeaux was being transported from one facility to another at 4:45 a.m. when he brandished a pistol and ordered the officers to drive south to Baytown. He was apparently shackled, and was sitting in his wheelchair at the time. Officials say once they arrived in Baytown, Comeaux handcuffed the officers together, stole one of their uniforms, and put them in the back of the van. Comeaux left his pistol behind, but took the other officers weapons with him (12-gague shotgun and two semiautomatic pistols). Thankfully the officers were unharmed. Officials say they will conduct a serious incident review to determine how Comeaux was able to obtain a firearm inside of their facility.

Remembering these officers...
Lakewood, Washington – The manhunt is on in Washington to find Maurice Clemmons. Investigators believe he is the man who shot and killed Lakewood police officers (three males and one female) yesterday in what they believe was an ambush attack. Clemmons is charged with four counts of First Degree Murder. Sgt. Mark Renninger, 39; Ronald Owens, 37; Tina Griswold, 40; and Greg Richards 42, were inside the coffee shop together when the gunman entered the Forza Coffee Company (this location is 35 miles south of Seattle). Police say at least one suspect entered the coffee shop, and opened fire on the four officers, in uniform, working on their laptops. Their police cruisers were out front of the coffee shop, and investigators say they were getting ready to start their shifts. Two baristas and customers were inside when gunfire erupted, and no one else was injured during this attack. It is unclear if the shooter said anything before they opened fire, or if the officers had a chance to fire back at the gunman.
