UPDATE – 2 p.m.  Authorities closed in on Alward today in a cornfield in Colorado… Story developing…

This is the fourth time Douglas Alward, 48, has slid away from the hands of law enforcement.  A career criminal known for his jail breaks escaped from the Sterling Correctional State Facility in Colorado late Sunday night and hasn’t been seen since.  Late Tuesday, authorities announced a $15,000 reward.

Katherine Sanguinetti, Spokesperson for the Colorado State Prison, says authorities aren’t releasing the details of this escape because the investigation is ongoing, but she did say that he is a dangerous criminal who needs to be found.

Alward was serving time for first degree attempted murder, burglary and kidnapping.  Although he was eligible for parole in 2005, and a hearing was set for this October, he decided that breaking out from a secure perimeter would be better than waiting around.  He was housed in a facility with 2,500 other inmates and had been behind bars there since 2001.

UPDATEJust a few hours ago U.S. Marshals closed in on Tracy Province after someone from the public called in a tip… McCluskey and Welch are still wanted… Stay tuned for more information…

A case involving two dangerous convicted murderers on the run heated up over the weekend.  The convicted murderers escaped from a medium security prison in Arizona 10 days ago, and investigators say they may now be connected to two murders in New Mexico.  John McCluskey, 45, Tracy Province, 42, and Daniel Renwick, 36, broke out of a medium-security facility on July 30th.  Authorities say McCluskey’s fiancée Casslyn Welch tossed wire cutters over the security fence to make the break out a breeze.  An official who is affiliated with the facility, and who does not wish to be identified, told me the escapees made their exit by cutting a hole through a fence and helping each other along. Authorities captured Renwick only two days after the breakout when he allegedly shot at police in Colorado.  Renwick was serving a 22-year sentence for second degree murder.  McCluskey, Province and Welch have been on the lam ever since.

Three dangerous convicted murderers escaped from a medium security prison on Friday in Arizona.  An official who is affiliated with the facility, and who wishes not to be identified, told me the escapees made their exit around 9 p.m. by cutting a hole through a fence.  Once out in the open, they allegedly hijacked an 18-wheeler and landed somewhere in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Investigators caught up with one of the suspects Sunday when an officer in Rifle, Colorado recognized the Chevrolet Blazer and attempted to pull it over.  Authorities said the driver, Daniel Renwick, 36, was behind the wheel and allegedly shot at the officer.  According to investigators, the officer rammed his vehicle and that’s when Renwick was apprehended, handcuffed and hauled away.  Renwick could face additional charges in Colorado before his extradition back to Arizona.

The other two escapees are still on the run and could be anywhere.  Authorities are asking the public for any information on the whereabouts of Tracy Province, 42, and John McCluskey, 45.  Province was serving a life sentence for murder, and McCluskey was serving 15 years for attempted murder.  Authorities believe they could be traveling with McCluskey’s fiancé, Casslyn Welch, 44, and they are armed and dangerous.

Remembering Kayleah Wilson

Remembering Kayleah Wilson

Kayleah Wilson was murdered a few months ago as she walked to a birthday party on March 28, 2010. Hundreds of investigators combed the area in Greeley, Colorado for weeks before her body was found in a ditch.  Dave Joly with the Denver FBI told me two credible witnesses reported seeing Kayleah around 4:15 p.m. on March 28, 2010, but that was the last time she was ever seen alive.

Investigators have re-traced the path she took, interviewed hundreds of people, and aren’t leaving any stone left unturned. Although Kayleah was only 12, her family said she had an 18-year-old boyfriend that she recently broke up with. That boyfriend has been questioned by authorities and is now facing charges of sexual assault on a minor.  Officials have said he is a person of interest in the case, but they have not made any arrests.  In fact, authorities are currently interviewing sex offenders within 100 miles of where Kayleah went missing.

UPDATE / 9:12 p.m. -I just got off the phone with Dave Joly from the Denver FBI, he says at this hour more than 300 leads have come in on this case.  Earlier today the FBI announced a reward up to $10,000 for any information leading to Kayleah.  Joly also says they have two credible witnesses who reported seeing Kayleah around 4:15 p.m. at the Greeley mall last Sunday.  Right now the command post to find Kayleah runs from 8 a.m. – 10 p.m., but if leads come in after the normal hours, investigators will follow up with them immediately. Joly says agents did a search of Kayleah’s mother’s home, “We did a forensic search of the house, went into the home with the consent of the homeowner – we collected DNA samples we felt were Kalyeha’s, and collected DNA samples from everyone in the residence.”

Kayleah Wilson MISSING

Investigators in Greeley, Colorado are desperately searching for a missing 12-year-old girl.  Police say Kayleah Wilson vanished last Sunday.  She was heading to a birthday party, but never made it.  The walk was short, only about 10 blocks.  The FBI is involved, and there may appear to be signs of foul play.  More than 50 investigators are working on this case, and aren’t giving up until they find this child.  Kayleah is about 5 feet tall, 145 pounds, brown hair and eyes.  Authorities say she was last seen wearing a pink and white shirt over a white tank top, jeans, and red and white dress shoes.
