Friday, September 23rd, 2011

lo jackPhiladelphia Police say the SafetyNet for LoJack is the reason a 77-year-old male, who suffers from Alzheimer’s, was located on Monday.  The family enrolled their loved one in the program and he was wearing his SafetyNet braclet at the time he disappeared.

SafetyNet officials were notified, the bracelet’s frequency was activated and the Tac Air 2 system lifted off.  Police say the aviation unit received a strong signal from the air, and guided the ground investigators into the location.

COMMUNITY GATHERS TO REMEMBER MORGAN, KILLER STILL AT LARGE

Police sketch

Police sketch

On what would have been Morgan Harrington’s 21st birthday, family and friends gathered to remember this beautiful college student.  Over the weekend, a homemade quilt was left for Morgan on the Copley Road Bridge, the last place she was seen, and 21 purple balloons were released into the sky.  Attached to each balloon was the sketch of the man police believe could be responsible for her abduction and possibly even her murder. Investigators say Morgan vanished on October 17, 2009 while attending a concert outside the John Paul Jones arena in Virginia.  She was separated from friends around 8:30 p.m. when she walked out of the front entrance.  Authorities say Morgan called her friends inside and told them she was finding a ride home, and that they shouldn’t wait for her. State police officials report Morgan was last seen by the ticket office on the University Hall side of the building.  Morgan’s body was found on a farm in Albemarle County a little over three months after she vanished from the Metallica concert.  Investigators told me her body could have been on the farm as many as 100 days.

Remembering Aveion Lewis
Remembering Aveion Lewis

The Amber Alert for Aveion Lewis is canceled tonight, and authorities say they are now looking into this case as a death investigation.  Police say they believe Aveion was dead prior to the reported abduction on January 14, 2009.

According to a police press release, “the department has investigated the reported abduction and received varying degrees of cooperation from key persons in the investigation; which lead police to question the validity of information received from some individuals.  As a result, investigators began to focus on the possibility that Brandon Lockett, Aveion’s step-father was not providing accurate details.”

Conflicting statements from the step-father were given to authorities, and at this time, Brandon Lockett is in custody.  No charges have been filed yet, but he is being questioned. Authorities say they have come to this conclusion because of conflicting statements given, and as time went on investigators were advised an abduction did not occur.  Sadly, at this time, police do not know where Aveion’s body could be, but they have expanded the ground search to find the toddler.
