—The note 2 is dirty and unsightly compared with note 1. This difference opens another path:

+Mccormick died before he arrived home after having done some manual labor and had no time to writte some annotations in a clean paper.

+He died on his way back home from somewhere unknown (Marais Temps Clair CA.)

—My humble opinion is based on the novel by Mark Twain “Tom Sawyer Detective”. On the question of the blacksmith and the little screwdriver.

SOLUTION:-Ask the owner of the car what happened to the hitchhiker.

A body of a female has just been found in the Connecticut river where they were searching for Celina Cass, just 1/4 mile from her home. Official identification of the body has not taken place yet. Did the stepfather have his ‘breakdown’ this morning when he discovered the authorities were lowering the river to search for his stepdaughter’s body?

Jacobien, Mccormick´s criminal history does not include information about traffic of drugs or consumption of any drug.

Mccormick´s medical history does not include information about legal prescription of drugs or consumption of any medicine, only his desease.

Your interpretation is unsatisfactory and incomplete for my and based on facts that cannot be verified.

He used a substition cipher. Main problem: the notes are written in een mix of Spanish, Slang, English, Creole. And he uses a lot of abbriviations. Furthermore: his handwriting is bad, wich makes it difficult to read.
People from the St Louis area of people who know streetslang are probably the only ones who can really tell what Ricky was talking about. For istance: He uses the word ‘mace’ a lot but I don’t know if he is referring to drugs or something else.
He is talking about people tricking each other en about using.

In my humble opinion based on Edgar Allan Poe´s short story “the gold bug” first we must look for the signature where habitually someone puts the signature as the caracther of William Legrand did whith the note of captain Kidd.

Note the last word of the last line of the 2nd note: “XORLX” a letter repeats itself; and remember “Mccormick”, a letter repeats itself too.

If “X”=MC, C and CK.
“OR”=OR
“L”=M, he uses the code Cesar b or +1

Then “XORLX” is possibly “Mccormick”. If we apply this knowledge to the last line of the second note this it must mean:
“O-W-m-4 H8L XORLX” is “OWN-for I AM Mccormick”.

“O-W”= OW
“-m” = N, he uses the code cesar +1
-4= four= for (phonetic solution) and the hyphen join the letters and words.
“H”= I, he uses the code cesar +1.
8= eit (phonetic)= ei (phonetic a)= A.
“L”= M, he uses the code cesar +1.
etc… the 2nd note seems a testament or last will.

If we apply this knowledge to the last line of the 1st note this it must mean: “(i 94 WLD´S n CBE)….(TRFXL)” is possibly
( i 1994 would is and do been……terrifying came):

“i”= i.
94= date 1994.
“WLD´S”= would is (shorthand)
“n”= and.
C=D, he uses the code cesar +1, verb to do.
“BE”= BeE= been (phonetic solution)
“TRF”= Terrify or terrifying (shorthand).
“XL”= Come or Came, look the Codename “XORLX” explanation.etc.

The 1st note seems as he remember his life because from August 1993 until July 1994 he was in prison and this was terrifying for him.

Finally, you can accept that the group of letters “WLD” means “would” and the letter “D” has different form: Not “D” in “O-W-m-4″ or “XORLX”…the outine is incomplete or stand out in the low part, see “D” in 4 line, 4 letter, of 2nd note or 6 line,
5 letter, of 1st note.
