MICHIGAN STATE POLICE SKETCH

 MICHIGAN SERIAL STABBER

Authorities are on the hunt for a man who is fatally stabbing African-American men after asking for their help. Out of 13 attacks, five victims have died so far and three are still in the hospital.  The most recent attack was in the early morning hour’s of August 2, 2010.  Investigators say 49-year-old Arnold Minor’s body was found on the city’s south side near S. Saginaw Street. A sketch of the suspect was released by investigators on Friday.

I spoke with Lt. TP Johnson of the Flint Police Department and he said, “What this guy is doing is driving up to them, getting out of his vehicle, pretending to have car trouble. Or asking for assistance in some way.  The victims are guilty of trying to help someone asking for help.  In [sic] several occasions he’s walked up and started stabbing.”

BILLBOARD CAMPAIGN TO FIND “GRANDDAD BANDIT”

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

WANTED

FBI May 2010 Missouri photo

FBI May 2010 Missouri photo

The FBI is kicking off a campaign to nab a man dubbed the “Granddad Bandit.”  Agents say his crime wave spills across 13 states, and he’s suspected in up to 25 robberies.  The suspect is bold, visible, and not afraid to demand what he wants.  This is why his face will be plastered on 2,000 billboards across every state in America.  He’s been on the run for 19 months since his first hit on December 19, 2008 at a SunTrust Bank in Richmond, Virginia.  When he made his getaway, it was believed he just blended into the crowd.

The FBI says the suspect usually hands tellers a note demanding money and threatening to have a weapon.  He may be traveling in a silver sports utility vehicle. The suspect may be between 50 and 60 years old, weighs about 230 pounds and may be 6 feet tall.

A $25,000 reward is offered for any information leading to his arrest.

Meanwhile, for the last 11 months the FBI has been hunting in Southern California for another suspect dubbed the “Geezer Bandit.”  He appears to be an elderly man robbing banks.  Most of the hits have been in San Diego County, and one in Riverside County.  His latest heist was at a Bank of America in Temecula, California.  If you take a close look at the photos, the suspect looks like someone’s grandpa, but the FBI says this grandpa is a gun-wielding bandit.  He is known to carry a small caliber pistol inside a leather case, and has threatened tellers that he will use it if they don’t cough up the cash.  Once he gets what he wants, the suspect walks out of the bank.

KYRON HORMAN’S FAMILY RELEASE BRAND NEW VIDEO AND PHOTOS

Friday, June 25th, 2010

For the first time ever we are finally hearing Kyron Horman’s voice and are able to see his mannerisms.  Kyron’s family released brand new video and 200 pictures of the missing child late last night, and his biological mother and father spoke out this morning on the national networks.  His mom, Desiree Young, said her son had poor vision and couldn’t see very far in front of him, so he’s known to stick close to home.  Today marks the three week anniversary since he was last seen, and nearly 3,000 tips have poured in on this case.  The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office collected questionnaires from parents, students and staff of Skyline Elementary School in Portland, Oregon last weekend.  The information was geared towards hopefully uncovering new leads that will help find the missing 7-year-old.  Investigators passed out the forms one week ago and requested the information back at the end of last weekend.  Kyron disappeared on June 4, 2010 after his step-mother Terri Moulton-Horman dropped him off at his school after a morning science fair.  A person of interest and suspect has not been named in this case, but investigators have said this is now a criminal investigation.   Lt. Mary Lindstrand of the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office told me that the official search efforts to track Kyron Horman shifted, and the new flier released will hopefully lead to clues.

MISSING MOM’S ESTRANGED HUSBAND CHARGED WITH MURDER

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

*UPDATE*Venus Stewart’s estranged husband, Douglas Stewart, is officially charged with her murder even though officials do not have her body.  He was arrainged yesterday and a preliminary hearing is set for July 1, 2010.  More to come on this case…

Domestic violence is a vicious cycle, a cycle that many victims cannot pull themselves out of because of children, their safety, or just plain fear of being alone. It appears Venus Stewart was pulling herself out of a violent relationship. She packed up her children and moved to Michigan to get away from her husband, and now she is missing. Lt. Risko with the Michigan State Police says Venus was snatched from the front yard of her parents’ home on April 26, 2010 as she went to mail a letter.

Her husband, Doug Stewart, denies any wrongdoing. He initially provided an alibi, which is not solid, and investigators consider him the only person of interest. In a bizarre twist this week, Lt. Risko told me today he believes there was an impersonator running around pretending to be Doug Stewart in his hometown of Newport News, Virginia. The same hometown Doug Stewart claimed to be in the morning his estranged wife vanished.

SKETCH RELEASED IN AZ STATE STUDENT MURDER

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010
SUSPECT SKETCH

SUSPECT SKETCH

The spring semester had just come to a close, and the Memorial Day weekend was on the horizon for Kyleigh Sousa. The 21-year-old Arizona State University student was on her way to grab a bite to eat with a friend around 2 a.m. when her life changed forever. Tempe Police Sgt. Steve Carbajal told me that Kyleigh was approached by a “brazen criminal” who was driving a silver Chrysler 300 or Dodge Charger. He was described as being Hispanic and heavy-set, and now investigators have released a sketch. After talking to Kyleigh, the suspect grabbed her purse and Kyleigh became entangled. She was dragged by the vehicle, hit her head, and died. Sgt. Carbajal told me, “She didn’t have an opportunity to get away” and was pronounced dead at the hospital. There’s now a manhunt to find her killer.

The murder took place near the International House of Pancakes at the 200 block of East Apache Boulevard on May 26, 2010. There’s a possibility there were other people inside the vehicle, and the suspect still has the purse. If we can find the purse, it may lead to the suspect. If you have any information, please contact the Tempe Police Department: (480) 350-8311

GREG FORTE-22337_306387342806_518382806_3655130_7655021_n

UpdateInvestigators say skeletal remains found in Ocean City, Maryland at the end of April are those of Greg Forte.  DNA testing was performed and the results were released yesterday.  I’ve been in touch with Greg’s girlfriend, family and friends over the last few months… my thoughts and prayers are with those he left behind.

Greg Forte vanished on February 9, 2010. Since then, investigators say they have not had any confirmed sightings, and this case has turned into a big mystery. I spoke with Christi, one of Greg’s best friends. She says Greg and his girlfriend Kara have been dating since May 2009, and have known each other for four years. Cristi says, “anyone who knows Greg, loves him.” He is getting ready to start as a long term substitute teacher at Indian River High School, and overall life is going well for him. Right now, Greg currently lives in Selbyville, Delaware, just a couple of miles west of Fenwick Island. If you are familiar with the area, it is along the Mason-Dixon line that separates Ocean City, Maryland from Delaware.

TEEN POLICE ACADEMY

Friday, May 21st, 2010

While doing research on a case, I came across an interesting program for teens in Florida.  The Boynton Beach Police department hosts a Teen Police Academy during the summer months.  According to their website, the goal and objective is, “To encourage young people to become productive young adults by promoting the development of important core values thereby deterring juvenile delinquency.”

This entails an exciting week chocked full of fun, interactive, educational activities to include gang and drug awareness, crime scene, traffic stops, building searches, SWAT and K-9 units, life saving techniques, firearm safety, field trips, and much more.  Some of the requirements are that teens have to be between the ages of 14 – 16, must be enrolled in high school, must live in the City of Boynton Beach and Western Communities, and parents have to sign the waiver.

The program is one week in length, and costs $75.00.  Your registration must be complete by June 15, 2010 and the academy will be in full swing starting August 9, 2010.

If you are interested, check out the Boynton Beach Police department here.

MISSING TEEN IN TEXAS

Alexandria Lowitzer - MISSING

Alexandria Lowitzer - MISSING

Alexandria Lowitzer is a busy teenager.  She loves to play softball, she works at a burger joint and in   her spare time she hangs with her friends.  On April 26, 2010, Alexandria, also known as “Ali,” got off her school bus three houses away from her home in Spring, Texas and hasn’t been seen since.

Dozens of searchers have given up their own time, including volunteers from the Laura Recovery Center and the Greater Houston Search Dogs, to look for “Ali.”  Although investigators in Harris County Sherriff’s Office have her case labeled as a “runaway,” her family and volunteer searchers believe she is in danger.

The Laura Recovery Center says on their website on May 4, 2010, “Today approximately 100 volunteers combed the area around where 16 year old Alexandria Lowitzer was last seen on April 26, 2010. Eleven search teams were sent out from the search center located at Northwood Baptist Church, 5803 Treaschwig Road, in Spring, Texas.

KAYLEAH WILSON’S BODY FOUND?

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010
Kayleah Wilson (missing)

Kayleah Wilson (missing)

UPDATEReports are coming in that a body was found in a ditch earlier this morning about one mile away from where Kayleah went missing.  We are waiting for a positive ID on the body from investigators. Stay tuned…

The award to find Kayleah Wilson is up to $20,000. Investigators haven’t given up hope, but there have not been any signs of the missing teen. Dave Joly with the Denver FBI told me two credible witnesses reported seeing Kayleah around 4:15 p.m. on March 28, 2010. That was the last time she was ever seen.

Since then, the FBI has scaled back their efforts and 52 volunteer searchers showed up over the weekend to comb the blocks Kayleah was last seen walking in. Unfortunately, the rain hindered their plans to continue searching.
