Michelle Le (family released photo)
Investigators say Michelle Le vanished from the Kaiser Hayward Medical Center in California on May 27. She walked outside to her car, and never came back. Based on evidence found, police fear she is a victim of homicide. This week, authorities closed in on a possible suspect and made an arrest. Lt. Keener, with the Hayward Police department, said Giselle Esteban, former high school and college roommate is charged with Michelle’s murder. Michelle’s body has not been found. Keener indicated various pieces of evidence like cell phone records, surveillance video and DNA led them to Esteban’s doorstep. The suspect was arrested early Wednesday morning and has not spoke about the case to police. Kenner said Michelle and Esteban may have had some sort of fallen out, but police do not have a concrete motive for the killing. Police say they served a search warrant on Esteban’s property on May 29 then again on September 7.
Esteban was scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday, but police confirm, due to her pregnancy and a doctor’s appointment, the arraignment will be postponed.

The Fairfield Police say Katelyn Markham, 22, vanished on Aug. 14. Her fiancé, John Carter called 911 to report her missing. She hasn’t been seen since. Police Chief Mike Dickey says at this point, there is no evidence of foul play, but they are not ruling it out. Katelyn is a hardworking student who has two jobs and attends classes. Chief Dickey says she’s known her fiancé since they were kids and have been enganged for the last year.
Although numerous ground searches conducted by the police department and volunteers have taken place, none have yielded new clues. Investigators say Katelyn left behind her personal belongings, including her dog, cell phone and vehicle. Electronic billboards with information about Katelyn are up around Ohio and Kentucky displaying information about her and where to call if someone has any information.
Katelyn stands 5’3” and weighs 130 pounds. She has green eyes, brown hair with blonde highlights. Chief Dickey says her biological parents are split up and she was adopted by another family.
There is a $20,000 reward being offered for information on this case. If you know anything, please contact the Fairfield police: (513) 867-6030

Investigators say Lauren Spierer was last seen at 4:30 a.m. and was in the Bloomington, Indiana area near the corner of 11th Street and College Avenue on June 3. Since then, hundreds of volunteers and law enforcement officials have donated their time to help find the missing student. Now, 61 days into the investigation, authorities are turning their focus to an area landfill.
The site is 55 miles from where Lauren was last seen, and it could hold evidence or clues to where she could be. It is unclear at this point when the search will begin. Peg Mulloy, Republic Services spokesperson said they have had, “discussions with the FBI and Bloomington police regarding the Sycamore Ridge Landfill.” Mulloy said out of the 200 landfills they oversee, this would not be the first time they’ve corporate with law enforcement on the recovery of a body or evidence. Republic Services also opened up another site to find a missing child known as Baby Gabrielle.
