Three days have passed since police say Ayla Reynolds, 20-months-old, was last seen.  Ayla was last seen sleeping in her bed around 8 p.m. on Friday night.  Her father reported her missing the next morning around 9 a.m.  The FBI is now assisting with this case and are looking into the disappearance as a possible abduction.

Volunteers, police and firefighters spent the weekend looking for Ayla.  She was last seen wearing green and polka dot one-piece pajamas and wearing a soft cast from a broken arm.  Investigators say there were several adults inside the home on Friday evening when the toddler went to sleep and at least one of them was not a family member.

Ayla’s pajamas had the words “Daddy’s Princess” on them. She stands 2 feet 9 inches tall, and weighs about 30 pounds.  If you have any information, please contact the Waterville Police Department at 207-680-4700.

UPDATE: 12:15 p.m. 10/18/2011 - FROM MONTGOMERY CO. POLICE

Today, Montgomery County Police Chief J. Thomas Manger has announced that this morning, at approximately 9:11 a.m., a Montgomery County Police Department K-9 handler and a volunteer K-9 handler from the Mid-Atlantic D.O.G.S. Search and Rescue located the body of a young, African-American male off of Clarksburg Road about a quarter mile west of Frederick Road in Clarksburg, MD.  The body is believed to be that of William McQuain.

Due to surveillance video that detectives obtained during the course of the investigation, police now believe that McQuain’s body has been in this location since October 1, 2011.  The surveillance video, obtained from a self-storage facility located in the 13200 block of Wisteria Drive in Germantown, showed William McQuain and Curtis Lopez entering and re-entering a storage unit during the morning of October 1.  At that time, William McQuain appeared to be in a playful mood and showed no signs of distress.  The clothing that William McQuain was wearing in the video is similar to the clothing found on the body that was located today in Clarksburg.

amber alert lottery

The Amber Alert system in Pennsylvania has safely recovered 32 children since it began.  The PA Lottery has been a part of that system since 2004 when they first started to print information about alerts on tickets.  Now, the Amber Alerts will appear in a 17 inch monitor in more than 8,800 kiosks statewide.  The child’s picture, abductor and vehicle information will remain on the screens 24 hours a day 7 days a week and blast through 67 counties until the alert is cancled.

Since this new lottery system was put in place, there has been one active Amber Alert.  Experts estimate the new system will reach thousands.  Citizens who live in Pennsylvania can also receive electronic notifications on an abducted child through the state alert system, AlertPA.
