MARIO McNEILL CHARGED WITH FIRST DEGREE RAPE AND FIRST DEGREE MURDER
We learned more tonight about how little Shaniya Davis was murdered, and what happened to this child before her life was taken. Fayetteville Police just held a press conference, and they say preliminary test results show Shaniya died from asphyxiation, and the testing is not complete. Police also brought down charges against the man they’ve been holding for her kidnapping, and have officially charged Mario Andrette McNeill with First Degree Murder and First Degree Rape. McNeill is being held without bond, and he will stay in the Cumberland County Detention Center. The two lead detectives on the case are currently serving warrants on McNeill.
This story is heartbreaking. It is hard to imagine the fear and trauma Shaniya Davis must have suffered before she was murdered. That someone was able to wage these unspeakable acts against an innocent child and discard her so callously is beyond my comprehension.

I know we’re all in a rush for justice, but I’m kind of afraid of what time might reveal about this heart-wrenching case. Certainly a lot is going on, and apparently someone at sometime made a confession that led to the location of precious little Shaniya’s remains. At the end of the day nothing exists that is bad enough for those who committed these unspeakable acts against that sweet little baby…and sadly, awfully, nothing will bring her back. So we have nothing but time. I hope everyone (media especially) steps back and provides the kind of breathing room that will allow the authorities to do the best job possible.
This is a most challenging time (understatement) for all who have been touched by this unspeakable tragedy. Our sincerest prayers are with those who knew, loved and cared for dear Shaniya. Rest assured we will never forget all that she was and all that she could have been.
My thoughts and prayers are with the ones who loved her.
I HOPE THE TRUTH COMES OUT ABOUT THIS CASE AND NOT JUST ASSUMPTIONS FROM THE MEDIA I AGREE MEDIA NEEDS TO STEP BACK AND LET THIS CASE BE COMPLETELY INVESTIGATED AND SOLVED AND FOR JUSTICE BE SERVED FOR THIS LOVELY LITTLE GIRL WHO IS NOW NO LONGER WITH US BECAUSE A MONSTER WAS ALLOWED TO GET CLOSE ENOUGH TO HURT HER AND DID!!!
