Mark 9:42 And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.
Precious little angel, what wouldn’t we give, with the knowledge we now have, to turn back the hands of time. This nation would fly to your rescue. Hopefully we have learned lessons that will protect other precious children that they might not share your cruel fate.
This life is a fleeting shadow for even the longest living, but what happened to you is a challenge I can’t fathom. I certainly don’t understand God’s plan for you, darling child. But I’m with your daddy: though I am vexed by my limited, mortal view, I still believe in Jesus, and all my hope is in Him. I despise with every shard of my heart what was allowed to happen to you, but with every bit of that same heart I trust in the restoration to come. There WILL be a day that erases all tears, and you will be there with your beautiful, radiant smile once again.
I thank God for Matthew 10:28 for it is confirmation that though man killed your body, he never laid a finger on your soul. There is comfort in that. What was is over; now we can focus on the grand possibility of what is…the happier things where you are concerned.
My five year old daughter saw a picture of you and said she would like to play with you. You two would have been makeup-crazy giggle faces together! In the photo you are wearing a China Red-striped shirt. Your cheeks are rosy with the blossom of play. I can tell you must have been bounding about joyfully as fast as your little legs would carry you across the ground. Now you soar with wings like eagles where no person can ever ever harm you again.
You can’t come back here (and who would want to), but one day we can go to where you are if we cling to our faith in the Restorer of all precious things, Jesus Christ, the One who went before you, removed the ultimate sting of death, and was there with open, healing arms waiting lovingly and protectively to receive you into eternity on Tuesday, Nov. 10.
And so as one chapter of your life closes, a wondrous, unending book opens for you, and I raise my chalice to the King, the One Who died that you should live forever, to you, sweet baby, and to the restoration to come.
Amen!! Well said Ashli. Amen!!
